Actually, every palm species produces fruit. Every single one at some point in their existance - from yearly to once in a lifetime!
Palm seed fruit is a bit confusing. Just like plums or peaches, the seed is within the fruit. Let's look into this World of Palm Fruit. Is it useful, edible or even dangerous? And why you might want to sample some. Or Not!
Some of approximately 2600 palms, including the Cali Fan Palm, grow edible fruit. Several species are delicious to eat. Probably the most well-known palm fruits are coconuts and dates.
Another, açaí, has recently gotten more popular.
Probably the most Famous Palm Fruit is the Coconut. You've heard of it, of course! Because Coconut Palm has the Cocos nucifera Fruit, useful in several ways.
A popular palm fruit. Dates grow on the Date Palm (Phoenix dactylifera). A staple food in the Middle East for eons. They're chewy, with a hint of caramel flavor.

Have you yet heard of açaí? It's pronounced aah - saa - ee.
Growing on the Açaí Palm (Euterpe oleracea), the fruit is small, sweet & dark purple. Often called a berry, it's native to the Amazon rainforest.
Called a superfood because of high antioxidant levels. They're often used in smoothies, bowls, and supplements.
Some palm fruits are less well known.
Many local communities in the tropics know their Value as Edible Tropical Fruits. But the fruit hasn't often been cultivated for export.
Yes, some palm fruits are nutritiously edible. But some pose possible dangers.
The greatest numbers of palm tree fruits are unpalatable to humans. Tasting yukky!
But a wide variety of those are tolerable for animals. Like livestock & birds. Very useful in that way!
So we've seen that palm trees do grow fruit. Most aren't edible by people. Yet trying those you have access to, that are okay to eat, could provide tasty, exotic & nutritious diet choices. Even including them in delicious recipes.
Experimenting with different palm fruits can be a fun and scrumptious adventure.
